Sexting among teens is a new fad and it is on the rise like a national epidemic. What is Sexting? Sexting is when you send a nude or semi nude photo from your cell phone to someone else. Actually, it doesn’t have to be a fancy Google Android, or a Blackberry Torch, or even an iPhone 4g. There are other Texting devices that can be used to send these naughty photos as well this is true.

Did you know that your child’s photo being sent across the airwaves is against the law? Did you know that they could even be prosecuted for distributing child pornography? It is strange to consider since they too are minors, but anyone regardless of age can be charged with this offense, the only important factor is the age of the person in the photo.  The stats are staggering if you see below the number of kids involved in this are alarming.  Let’s say you have five teenage kids, according to the stats below at least ONE of them will have participated in the act of sexting.

Culture as an influence on “sexting”:

Reputations are fragile and important to many people. They might take years to cultivate and begin with simply and aspire to be much greater than they can ever be. If you can you remember back that far you can consider yourself lucky because you are still younger than many. We used to pass notes on crumpled pieces of paper. Notes that said you though he or she was cute or do you like me might have been written on the note. Notes might have been left in lockers that were nasty and accusatory, like calling someone a bad name even though it was not even true. Even though the kids were tough back then the nastiness was only verbal or on paper, which was bad enough. These days though, it is digitized, ones and zeros and permanent. Facebook does not through away their servers hard drives like a piece of notebook or Big Chief paper, like back in the day.

So now we and moreover our children are faced with the permanency of what they do or say online. They are subjected to what other kids do and say online as well. This can be many times more painful that what they have done on their own. Regardless of truth, that is not the issue. It is a concern of health and permanency, what will come of this once these words or notions are released into the world of backups where notebook paper is just a background theme on their personal twitter page?

Anonymity is another very important subject to discuss that is often overlooked. There is a new phenomenon out there that I want people to be aware of and I will coin the phrase here and now. It shall be called “Socialnymity.” The word I have created is defined by me as follows: Socialnymity is the feeling of lessened social responsibility on Social Networking websites or the Internet through lack of Face to Face contact. When certain people experience this feeling of “Socialnymity,” it can cause them to sometimes be more callous and hurtful in their interactions online. They can feel empowered by the seeming lack of true repercussions of their online behavior. “Cyber-bullying” is a direct symptom of this feeling of “Socialnymity.”

Socialnymity is a word that might as well be adopted into the common English vernacular. It is unfortunately here to stay and is something that will continue to cause issues for people young and old. Online Reputation Scrubbing, Online Reputation Prevention, Online Reputation Management are all the future tasks we will all be in need of and much of this is because of Socialnymity.

The New Android Incredible Review. “Move over Motorola Droid,  here comes something Incredible…..”  So what can we say?  Did you purchase the Motorola Droid in November, Nexus one in December? Darn.  Did you buy the iPhone from Apple like everyone else did?  Well, it might be time for a bit of buyers remorse.

The Android Incredible now has the features that the old Droid did not have before.  Many have resisted the Droid purchase because the Apple App store was so superior touting 185,000 apps.  But now the Android Market has many 10’s of thousands of applications, 40,000 at the moment and growing fast.

The Droid supports flash.

This Droid can Multitask, can your iPhone do multitasking?  No, it can not, if it could the processor of the iPhone would go down in flames.  I am certain that someday the iPhone will have multitasking though.  I hope this June, hint hint..

This Droid can also do the pinch-to-zoom features that the iPhone can do as well, which is a reason I would not have wanted the Androids before.  If you are unhappy with the browsing on the iPhone because of the ATT service issues then you will be happy to know that Verizons network is top-notch in most places and since they do not sell the iPhone that is probably why their network is healthier, ironic.

• Like texting while driving over voice recognition is a feature that we are Not happy with here at PCA. How dangerous is this? Why would you encourage this? We will be looking for an application that will disable this feature for you.
• No multi-touch screen? The hardware will support it, but the software will not, that’s weird too.
• It looks great,  and snapdragon processor is cool and helps over the 2.0.
• We can get it from may vendors as opposed to just ATT for the iPhone, that’s good!
• Also, the 2.1 will be available for many other hardware providers when compatible.
